Who are we? Helicópteros de Guatemala was launched in Guatemala, on July
20, 1969. With more than 100,000 hours of experience and
service, we set an historic event by being a pioneer company
in the helicopter commercial service; and using aircrafts
with properly certified crews. Hector Morataya, founder, who
started as a fixed wing pilot, performing agricultural
spraying, was instructor for the 1st Guatemalan Agricultural
Spraying Pilots Academy an led a legacy of local pilots.
Currently, its president, the pilot, Ricardo Morataya
Terraza, leads an operation of 10 helicopters, certified by
the Guatemalan aviation authorities (Dirección General de
Aeronautica Civil – DGAC). .

What services do we offer?
Helicópteros de Guatemala offers transportation services of
helicopter flights and pre flight and post flight
maintenance of helicopters in all Central American regions.
We have supported tourism, executive passengers,
infrastructure and social projects that as well have helped
strengthening national and international prestige.

How are we equipped?
This company was founded 41 years ago and since then, we
started building a crew of experienced pilots, mechanic and
land staff, all with hundreds of hours flying.
Our fleet is composed of 5 Bell Jet Ranger 206 B3
Helicopters, 4 Bell Long Ranger LIII / LIV Helicopters and
one Ecureuil AS350 B3.
Helicópteros de Guatemala has two operation bases, one in La
Aurora International Airport and the other one in Santa
Elena, Petén; in the La Aurora International Airport
facilities we have a 70 meter front hangar, divided in four.
One used for mechanic services and maintenance an the other
three as hangars for the fleet and private helicopters. We
have ten heliports with fueling system, signal and lighting
equipment; also checking offices and comfortable waiting
rooms, also known as FBO (fixed base operator) where you can
delight wonderful Guatemalan coffee and snacks. The
maintenance workshop is also in La Aurora International
Airport, which has highly equipped aeromechanical tools and
crew that are capable to give pre and post maintenance
services to all the principal brands of helicopters of the
region, among them,
Bell, Eurocopter, Mcdonald Douglas, and Agusta.
What certifications do we own?
To operate according the Guatemalan laws, Helicópteros de
Guatemala is certified by the Dirección General de Aviación
Civil (DGAC) of Guatemala, and through regional according,
we are authorized to operate in the South of Mexico and all
the Central American regions.

Helicópteros de Guatemala operates with all the aero
navigability codes needed by the Guatemala authorities and
the international security standards.
What international awards have we won?
Helicópteros de Guatemala is a proudly to be the second
Latin-American company and number 32 in the world to receive
the Platinum Program of Safety Award given by the Helicopter
Association International. We received this award on
February 2005 in Anaheim, California.
This award is recognition of numerous efforts of services
made throughout all of these years. Placed as a leader
company in the region throughout 37 years of experience,
makes us keep high standards operations and high standards
of excellence.

Helicópteros de Guatemala has insurance for all its fleet.
We have coverage estimated for fleet, passengers and civil
responsibilities for third parties.
